Preparing ingredients for cooking includes portioning, cutting and storing. Peel and wash fresh fruits and veggies. Mix ingredients by measuring, weighing and mixing them. Cook food following recipes, quality standards and presentation standards. Prepare cold foods. Use ovens, stoves and grills. To determine if food has been properly cooked, test it. While preparing food, monitor the quality of the food. Establish and dismantle workstations. Proper portions of food should be placed in the right containers. Clean and disinfect the kitchen, tables, tools, and equipment. Verify that the food and appliances are at the right temperature.
Follow company safety and security procedures. Report maintenance issues, injuries and unsafe work conditions, to managers. Complete safety training and certifications. Maintain a professional appearance and uniform; keep confidential proprietary information secret; protect company assets. Use clear, professional language when speaking with others. Establish and maintain positive working relationships; support your team to achieve common goals; listen to and respond to employees' concerns. Respect quality standards and expectations. For a prolonged period of time, stand, sit or walk, or for a whole work shift. Reach above and below your knees. Bending, twisting and pulling are all possible.
